A friend of mine and I joke how we always defy Stacy and Clinton's rules from What Not To Wear when it comes to buying clothes in multiples. We know we aren't supposed to own 5 of the same cardigan in different colors but we do it anyway.
Does the same rule apply to what you buy for your house?
No, you aren't seeing double. I just couldn't resist buying another pair of alabaster lamps for our living room similar to the ones we have in our bedroom.
Oh Alabaster.
I wish I knew how to quit you.

Twice the goodness!
I have a problem following that rule as well- if something fits, why not buy it in every color :)
Same goes for alabaaster lamps- love your new ones!
I would love to find a pair of those.
ha! rules? pshhh...
great purchase!
No - how you could NOT buy them? They just had to be yours!
You buy what you like and it all works out - that's the only rule ;)
You are so funny....gorgeous lamps!
Ohhh so pretty! No wonder you could not pass them up...I would have bought them too! Which is probably why my spare/storage room looks like it does!
Isn't there a rule about surrounding yourself with things you love? In my mind that should be the first and most important rule.
Love them! And I totally buy shirts and sweaters I love in every color ;)
Hehehe...I must not be listening very carefully on "What Not to Wear" because I totally thought they said *DO* buy multiples of things you really love and fit good! So according to me, you are following the rules perfectly...with fashion *and* decorating (c; Who doesn't love a classic and classy lamp???
One can have never have too many cardigans...or pretty lamps. True story.
I totally adore them too! You can always find alabaster lamps on ebay and craig's list. Not sure why anyone would get rid of a pair!! M.
Ha! I totally buy in multiples also.
Where in the heck to you find these babies? I don't think I've ever come across one!
Is it me, or do they look like your new balustrade?

Decorating rules are different - if you are the type to stick to them (and I am certainly not that type!). If it works for you in both spaces then why not! They are a great buy, Carrie and it is always better to be decisive than not.
General rule: marble, alabaster, leather and some forms of metal really can't be overdone. you can have an entire marble room in my opinion and it's not overdone (just ask lots of European mansions).
I have that same problem when it comes to clothes! I can't say the same thing for decorating but who's to say it won't happen ;)
I do the same thing - especially with Target's boyfriend cardigans. ;)
If you love it then I don't think there is a question - even with clothing. I do the same thing. Have a great weekend!
